General Information

Game Feed 2004

Like the New England Patriots, it was a team effort that delivered a Super Bowl of a meal for this year's Game Feed. All week long, the cooking team planned, cooked, and sampled all of the delicious courses that they served on Feb 7th. I (Lj) saw many volunteers helping out in this effort -- from a 4 year old that helped our president Dennis with raffle tickets, to a kitchen full of volunteers ranging from 12 to 88 years of age. What a great opportunity for anyone that would like to experience wild game cooking.

Thank you very much to all of the cooking team -- you provided a 20 course meal to a full house of hungry patrons and we all went home stuffed!

Here is the menu that took about 3 hours to serve: Appetizers:

  • Elk calzone
  • Woodville mussels w/blue cheese
  • Smoked trout and bluefish
  • Elk and Venison on tortilla chips Main courses:
  • Venison stew
  • Smoked goose teriyaki (Lj's favorite)
  • Venison steak with burgundy demi-glaze
  • Salisbury (buffalo) steaks
  • Fish cakes
  • Ostrich meatloaf
  • French garlic calamari
  • Bear Swiss steak
  • Southern fried alligator
  • Mushroom sautéed wild boar sausages
  • Fruit de Hare
  • Mud bugs (crayfish)
  • Elk stuffed peppers
  • Bear ragu
  • Kangaroo with stir fry
  • Deep fried bacon-wrapped venison tips

Ice Fishing Derby

We had another successful Ice Fishing Derby on 2/28/04. A hearty thank you to the kitchen for serving a super breakfast.

Paul Baptiste, Lane Marks and Don Creswell were the winners!! Congratulations to all!! And thanks to all the judges and Greg Pratt for running the derby.

Hope you are looking forward to our Trout Derby on 4/17. Raffle tickets will be here shortly. We will be raffling off 1st prize a Canoe or $300 cash, 2nd prize a Trolling Motor or $75 cash and 3rd prize a Rod/Reel or $25 cash. So purchase you tickets and get in on the raffle.

Lj's tip:

One of the best investments a club can make is providing educational opportunities and scholarships for our youth.
