Get Well Wishes:

Get well to Skip Lukey, Rick Marchesi and Joe Pratt. We hope you all are on the road to recovery soon.

Our Condolences:

Our sincerest condolences to the families of Joanne & Gary Hassett, Ed Jarosz and Kim & Boo Clark. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Super Bowl Sunday

Unfortunately, we weren't routing on the Patriots to victory, but we did have a nice gathering of folks for the game. Thank you to Karen, Edie and Cherryl for their help preparing the spread. Congratulations go to Paul Goveau, winner of the 48" TV raffle. Our apologies to anyone who missed out on the food, we had much more attendees than we were told for the snowmobile poker run. Guaranteed, next year (and the Patriots will be the game, think positive), there will be enough food for all.

Ice Derby:

The morning started warm, almost 38 degrees at 4:45 when the first entrants arrived. They had traveled up from the Taunton area! The cooks were already getting things started in the kitchen for the breakfast. After serving 80 meals, the kitchen was closed. Soon after, the sign-in sheet was closed with a whopping total of 191 entrants! Because of the great turn-out we were able to give out $3000 in prizes starting with $800 first prize, $400 second prize for the bass and pickerel categories, and $200 third place and largest perch! The largest bass and pickerel was caught by Pete Burdzell for a wining total of $1600, second place bass won by Brian Burdzell, third place bass won by Peter Blais. Second place pickerel won by 12 year old Jeff Leal, third place by Justin Myers. The largest perch was caught by Tony Bissonnette. All around a great day and we were joined by great people. I extend a huge thanks to all who pitched in the make this, by far, the largest ice derby we've ever had. Everyone had so much fun the members have voted to host another derby on the "no ice" date (Feb. 21). I hope we can make this event as good or better next year, we have many ideas going forward. Winners of the raffles were 1st place Pat Lynch, 2nd place Laurie Lindsey, and 3rd place AB (no clue whom this might be). Congratulations to all!

Game Feed 2009:

Due to great planning by Ed Grant and Karl Dakai, and a lot of support by many club members, we had a very successful game feed. We had 35 members pitch in the day of the feed alone! It was great to see George Zanella back to assist with the cooking again after many years' hiatus. The food, as always, was delicious and varied. Included in the feast were bear, boar, venison, duck, goose, turkey, pheasant, frog legs, rabbit and an assortment of fish. All 3 major food groups, fin, fur, and feather, were served. Appetizers were out at 6:00pm with the first main course served at 7:00. The courses kept coming out until after 10:00! The items on the menu, and the amounts served, would be a very costly meal at a restaurant, but we only asked for a donation of $30, cheap price to pay for shells stuffed with venison and cheese, venison kabobs, smoked turkey & pheasant, bear stew, venison tacos, pheasant pot pie, venison shepherd pie, venison cordon bleu, duck in a strawberry glaze, venison pizza w/wild mushrooms (yummy!!), goose breast pâté, venison loin pieces wrapped in bacon, and many other dishes. Everyone who attended must have had a food coma the next day! To top it off, a cake and brownies were served for desert! And not a one survived! I'm stuffed just thinking about it all! Thank you also to the folks that donated the huge amount of the food that was cooked. Your donations were greatly appreciated.

Nice Bass:

Jeff Leal - Nice Bass! 12 year old Jeff Leal, future Jr. member, won the second place in the pickerel category at our ice derby. Here he is shown with a nice bass. Jeff's mom Rachel, shown in the background, donates a lot of time to the club and our many events, and, along with her husband Greg, is very supportive of Jeff and his brother Josh, in their love of fishing. This is truly a sporting family, they all hunt, fish, and mom loves to cook the game they harvest.

Annual Blood Drive

Our annual blood drive has been scheduled for March 29, 2009. Frank Wylie organizes this event each year with Children's Hospital in memory of Laura Nardini. Please come and show your support and donate a pint for the half pints.
