A total of 34 pints of blood was donated in memory of Laura Nardini. Thank you Frank for your efforts and time in making this drive so successful. And thank you to all who donated (and to those who tried). There is talk that this will become a yearly event. All donations go directly to Children's Hospital.

The camp is a unique outdoor experience offering a balanced program of conservation education and instruction in outdoor recreation activities. The camp's programs introduces young people to the ethical concepts and knowledge essential to a lifetime of properly enjoying our natural resources and the leisure activities that depend on their careful stewardship.

Super Bowl Sunday

This year we had another great time at the club for Super Bowl Sunday! Congratulations to Big Joe for winning the 2006 Wide Screen TV. And thanks again to Brad Lovejoy for purchasing the 2007 Wide Screen TV - get your ticket now as there are only 100 of them at $20.00 each! And we can't forget the folks that picked up the munchies, etc. and set up the buffet. Even though the Pats weren't playing, a good time was had by all.

Gamefeed 2007

Eddie Grant and Karl Dakai headed up this year's game feed. They were assisted by many cooks, servers, helpers, dishwashers, some from distant lands as far away as Connecticut. This year the feed went flawless, and each meal went out as scheduled. With tickets at $30.00, everyone that attended enjoyed a fine meal. We limited the ticket sales to 150 this year and it was sold out!! If you happen to miss this event, we suggest you get your tickets early next year, as that will probably be sold out too.

The menu was:

Appetizers

Deep Fried Fish
Venison Liver Pate
Venison Hearts
Bear and Venison Nachos
Venison Stuffed Mushrooms

Main Course:

Alligator Bratwurst
Venison Shepards' Pie
Wild Turkey Soup
Venison Cordon Bleu
Venison Sausage, Onions and Peppers
Duck a la Ed
Bear Shish-ka-Bob
Roast Bear
Wild Boar Porketta
Buffalo Meatloaf
Rabbit Cacciatore
Pheasant on Wild Rice
Wild Goose in Brown Gravy

We would also like to say thank you to Kray Small for coming up with an awesome t-shirt for this years game feed, in a short amount of time. They were a big hit and Kray donated the profits to the club.

Second Ice Derby

We had 51 people show up for the second Ice Derby of 2007 held on February 24th. The day started with breakfast and sign up at the clubhouse. Thanks to all, from the kitchen help to the judges who helped pull off another great event. The day was sunny and a bit blustery. The first place prizes for bass and pickerel went to John Bunar (yes, he won both) of Team-Tipup, and the perch winnings went to Jeff Leal.

3rd Stool at the Bar

I (Lj) always enjoy the stories being told after a long day of ice fishing. See if you can recognize the punch lines to these stories as I removed most of the names to protect the innocent:

  • Once a rookie, always a rookie.
  • …and he pulled up a sock with a beer can in it. It measured 14 inches, no 16 inches, no 18 inches!
  • …and the ice was cracking right under us…
  • …so there we were with motel towels and motel silverware!
  • There goes the ice chisel (not wearing the strap).
  • Square holes? (chain saw)
  • Betty caught more fish than Bruce did…
  • The dog is stealing the food!
  • I'm not going to fish, I just come for the food and to have a good time!
  • …and when I bent over the hole, my radio/phone fell in and sank to the bottom!
  • …and then I was up to here in the water!
  • …we put the grill in the sled to get it out of the wind and then the sled caught on fire!
  • …and stay away from my tilt!
  • Hey man, you're on fire!
  • And then the wind breaker just blew away!
  • …and then they started flying a kite…
  • …and he put his winnings on the bar…
  • That's an icehouse, not an outhouse!

Reminder: Tips Course, April 14, 2007 9:00am sharp. Please arrive by 8:45 to register. $20 fee unless you are a bartender or officer of the club.

SueBee's Foxwood Trip:

Sue Bush had her 3rd annual Foxwood's trip on February 25th, 2007with 40 something people attending. Everyone enjoyed the bus ride down and back. Some were luckier than others, but all in all everyone had a good time. Thank you Sue for taking the time to arrange this fun event.

Moose Tales:

So, you thought the Moose signs on the roads of Massachusetts were a joke. You thought wrong. There are approx 700 -800 Moose in Massachusetts. Bill Wytek from Mass Wildlife did a presentation on the growing moose population to members and guests at the Woodville clubhouse.

We thank Bill for joining us to share this information. The presentation was very informative and interesting. Stay tuned for more presentations to come. If you have any thoughts of what you might like to see, speak to Mike Collins or any of the officers.

CPR Class:

Cathy Collins will be teaching another CPR class. There have been several changes over the past few moths. Stayed tuned for further information.
