Meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday, Monthly at 8:00pm Calendar of Events
Condolences: We are sending our sincerest Condolences to the families of Mike Collins and Joe Paradis. Horseshoe Banquet: On Saturday, March 1st, our Horseshoe league held their banquet. Approximately 55 folks attended the event. The hall was set up in horseshoe style and the prizes for the raffle were set up right in the middle for everyone to see. The event started out with a variety of hors d'oeuvres, and then a salad bar with garlic bread; then followed by a luscious prime rib and lobster dinner, accompanied by mixed vegetables and garlic oven roasted potatoes. The dessert table filled with cheesecake, brownies, cookies, fresh fruit, strawberry shortcake and vanilla ice cream with all the fixings, was a perfect ending to a perfect meal. Frenchie put together a fine crew that helped him with prepping and serving the meal. Awards were given out after the meal and a raffle was held. Phil Goodwin acted as the very capable MC for this part of the event. I don't think anyone went home hungry that night. Thanks to Brad and Pricilla Lovejoy who manage the league and coordinated the banquet each year and to the members who volunteered to work in the kitchen, the food was great as was the service. The new season starts on May 1st. Good Luck to all of you. Spring Fishing Commeth: It's just around the corner; you can feel it in your bones, the feel of a rod in your hands calls to you. Spring fishing, when the hands get wet and cold, and the sudden spring snow squall catches you by surprise. This is the time to get your tackle out, clean and lube those reels, re-line the spools, and polish those trout lures. We all do the same thing, fish all year then put the tackle box away. It needs to be clean people! Get it down off the shelf, open it up, and throw away the sluggo that's been torn apart by the last three pickerels of the season, replace those rusty hooks and sharpen the ones that need it. While you're at it, patch the leaks in the waders. Don't overlook the fly box, there is sure to be a few that are too beat up to reuse, and there are many more that will soon need to be replaced. The leaders and tippets need to be replaced on those fly lines, which also are in dire need of a good cleaning. Now is the time to get this done, not when you're at the waters edge. Spring Cleaning We would like to thank the folks that have been sprucing up the bar area. Spring cleaning got started a little early this year. We had a handful of people that took the reigns and got down to business by painting the walls, cleaning clocks, pictures, etc. and getting everything back up on the walls. Thank you for all your hard work. The bar area looks marvelous. The official club spring cleanup is 4/26/08. We generally get started around 9:00am. Any new members are encouraged to participate. The grounds, trap range and inside the club all need attention. The more folks we have participating, the more we can get done.
