Meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday, Monthly at 8:00pm Calendar of Events
Comedy Night, April 5 Changing the comedy night from Sunday to Saturday brought out a nice crowd of people. We sold approximately 158 tickets to the event. Frenchie and his crew out did themselves. As you walked in from the parking lot the aroma wafting from the kitchen made your mouth water. Munchies were on the table as people were arriving, cheese and crackers, pepperoni, and grapes. We were treated to a roast beef dinner w/gravy, including mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, tossed salad, and garlic bread. Cake and cookies were served after the show started (although a few of us missed out by not sneaking up during the show). We were treated to two and a half hours of comedy by Tyler Boeh, Jessica Casciano and Rick Beretta. All three comedians had us in stitches, and I know different folk have an opinion of who they thought was best. All in all it was a great night and a fun way to ring in spring (at least we hope spring is on the way!) Thank you all for supporting this function. Kids Conservation Camp Applications: Applications are on hand at the club house for the Kids Conservation Camp. Please have the application turned in by Sunday April 27. We need to supply the camp the names and ages by 5/1/08. Trout Derby We will have the results of the trout derby in our next issue. Stocking was held on April 15th. Blood Drive Our annual blood drive is being held in June 8th 9:00am-4:00pm. There is a sign up list at the club, or contact Frank Wiley for more information at 508-364-3550. Let's see if we can double our donations from last year. Margarita Night Margarita night is being held on May 3rd. Come on out and enjoy some tropical delights as we enjoy Woodville's version of Margaritaville. We'll have plenty of food, music and dancing. The rest is up to you! Tickets are on sale at the club house now. Get them early, as this event is a sell out every year. Kids Fishing Derby Kids fishing derby is being held May 17th. Get your fishing poles ready and come on down to Pratt's pond for another annual event. The results will be published in our next issue. It's always a great time for the kids and adults also! TURKEY HUNTING
Tips from Mass Wildlife & the National Wild Turkey Federation Tips for a Safe and Successful Turkey Hunt Turkey Hunting can be an exciting and memorable experience, but it has associated dangers that the hunter must keep in mind. The wild turkey has a keen sense of sight and can easily detect movement and colors that are out of place in the woods, making the use of complete camouflage or drab colored clothing almost a must. Camouflage not only reduces the turkey's chance of seeing the hunter, but also has the same effect on other hunters. Each year hunters somewhere in the U.S. are mistaken for turkeys and are shot. Several factors are responsible for these accidents. Hunters sneaking up on other hunters (stalking) who are calling and hunters who are wearing turkey colors (red, white, blue, and even black.) are involved in a high percentage of the accidents. Three solutions to these problems are:
DON'T STALK; CALL THE TURKEY TO YOU;
