New Business
  • Comedy night was held on April 6th and what a fun time that was. Although the first comedian would make you wonder if he makes any money at all and hopefully it isn’t his full time job, the second two however made up for any doubts of leaving the club laughing. Talk is going on about having another Comedy night sometime in the fall.

  • This year we had an Easter Egg Hunt. In spite of the weather not cooperating for an outside Easter egg hunt it had to be moved into the hall, it was still a fun time for everyone. Thanks to Mike & Cathy Collins for arranging everything. They managed to hide 360 eggs filled with candy. Every nook and cranny was filled with a treat. And a hearty thank you to everyone else who had a hand in making this a wonderful time. Rest assured we’ll be doing this again next Easter!!

  • Trout Derby - The Trout fishing derby is one of my (Lj) favorite events at the Woodville R&G. This derby always occurs on the 3rd Saturday in April, but the work starts weeks in advance. We start by appropriating money for stocking and acquiring permits to stock the trout in a state reservoir.

On the Thursday before the derby, the trout arrive at the Whitehall Rt. 135 boat ramp. We then transport and disperse the trout by boat. After a long, cold winter, it felt great to be on the open water and exciting to seeing some large trout (some greater than 4 lbs) being put into the lake!

Finally, on the morning of the derby, a Fisherman’s breakfast is held from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m. Thank you to those awesome cooks and what a great breakfast they provided! Eggs, home fries, and pancakes were all offered on the menu at a great price.

The winners of the trout derby were:

    • Gary Truell, for $250.00, with a 16 3/8 trout. Gary donated half of his winnings to the Kid’s fishing derby, and the other half he put on the bar! A tip of the hat to you Gary!
    • Bruce Pratt, for $125.00 with a 15 ¾ trout.
    • Ryan Harwood, who is 11 years old (son of Robin Harwood), for $75.00 with a 15 ¼ trout.

  • Lj's Sporting Tips - May:
    • Now is the time to apply for your anterless deer (doe) permit.
    • Camouflaged clothing looks great and hides stains anytime of the year! (Not just for hunting season anymore).

  • To all the hunters, fishing men and women out there. Care to share any hunting or fishing stories? We’d be happy to listen and publish your story in the Message and put it on the web page. Come to the member meetings and share your stories!! Congrats to all of you who hit your mark during the hunting season!!

  • Don’t forget Trap shooting on Sunday afternoons. We start around 1:30. Even with this spell of cold weather, we have had quite a few participants. Come on down and join in the fun.

  • Ongoing, we can order jackets, either spring or winter. If you are interested in looking at these items please keep in contact with the club (508-435-4148). We are taking orders for dungaree shirts; we have samples on display. Stop by the club and check them out. The green hats are in now. Members price for a hat is still $5.00.

  • Hall Rentals:
    • Member $75.00 plus $75.00 deposit
    • Non-Member $125.00 Hall, $50.00 bartender, plus $75.00 deposit

A deposit and contract are required to hold a date. Deposits are refunded at the end of the function once the hall has been cleaned.
