Lj's tip for June:

Sharp hooks are a must when fishing and can mean the difference of catching or loosing your prize. Keep a small whet stone or a "smooth" file in your tackle box to sharpen your hooks. If you run the point of the hook across a fingernail and it just slides without scraping it requires sharpening. In a pinch a fingernail file or emery board will work.

Margaritaville Night

On May 6th we held our first Margaritaville night. Volunteers spent 6 hours working on decorations, prepping appetizers and firing up the grills. What an awesome night it was. Tropical birds flying around, Palm trees to keep you cool, an awesome DJ under the Hut. Everyone enjoyed an evening of dancing. We are looking forward to the next one. Hey Frank, the song is Paradise by the Dash Board Lights (Meatloaf).. Great dancing!!

Building Committee

Per discussions being held regarding the electrical work in the building, we have had a member and his crew looking into the situation. First report is that we are in a better position than we thought. A couple of issues are being dealt with, and a cost estimate will be presented at the next meeting to fix the most immediate needs. Our thanks for the work that has been started.

Bass Derby?

Gary Hassett suggested having a Bass Derby this summer. Anyone interested in having a Bass Derby please contact the club or Gary Hassett.

150 Shoot

We would like to have a 150 shoot this year. We are looking for a few folks to help out in running the shoot. Please let us know if you can volunteer a Sunday or two in order to keep this going.

Kids Derby

This year the children caught the most fish out of Pratt Pond than they have in many years. It was a great turn out. We had 55 children attended. Unfortunately we do not have any names as of yet to publish. We will include them in the next update. Thank you to everyone who helped out making this a super derby!

Friendly reminder - We are always looking for help at the club events and functions. If you need to complete your 3 new member details, this is a way to do that. You see the club events published in this article. Mark them on your calendars as a reminder, check with your sponsor to see if anything is coming up or stop by the club and see what's happening. Thank you to the members that have done some maintenance work on the trap machine which will keep things running smoothly.
  • " Goal Membership: At our last meeting Dennis Smith brought up the subject of Woodville members joining Goal. There are many benefits of being a Goal member that will also benefit us. Beside Goal representing & protecting our rights to bear arms, they also pay for you to receive the Outdoor Message, thus a cost savings for the club. Applications are at the club, in the newsletter or online at www.goal.org. If you have questions, please attend a members meeting or talk with Dennis Smith.
