Kid's Trout Derby

It was a rainy weekend for a kids fishing derby, Saturday looked dismal and Sunday's outlook was better, so we postponed until Sunday, and the cleanup until Saturday. Pat Lynch didn't get the notice and entirely cleaned the area around the pond by himself with his weed whacker! Almost 60 kids arrived for the derby, some arriving well before the 8:00 kick-off, and all had fun. The rain held off for the start of the derby, but showers commenced around 10:30. Some of the parents wanted to leave, but the kids made them stay. Judge Cathy Collins, with the assistance of Paul Ned, measured the many fish that were caught and entered, trout, bluegills, bass, calicos, a few large shiners, and a turtle. Cathy is becoming a pro at this as she has now judged for a few years. Pat recorded each entry on the white board. John Villa manned the grille and handed out sodas with the assistance of Brian Sora. Gary Truell has done a fantastic job every year organizing this event with the help of Rusty Hewins, Brian, and Paul Baptiste, I sometimes wonder who's having more fun, the kids or the help! Great job to all who gave a hand and kudos to the Pratt family for allowing us to utilize their pond, it means a lot to the kids. All received a prize just for showing up. Trophies were given out in 4 age groups:

6 and under
1st place Sophia Swan, 2nd place Shane Bownes, 3rd place Chris Canan

7 & 8 year olds
1st place Hailey Erb, 2nd place Hunter Holzworth, 3rd place Bella Montouri

Many thanks to all of those that participated in the club clean up this spring. The shooting range is now in a maintenance mode and the picnic tables will last another year.

A committee was formed and plans have been made to have the trap range open every Sunday, weather permitting. If you've been away for a while, come on down and enjoy some shooting time.
