Civilian Marksmanship Program Jr. Member, Mark Garner attended the 2007 USA Shooting Progressive Air Pistol Championship at Bowling Green, Ky. We are very proud to announce that Mark's team came in 7th, and Mark himself came in 2nd place. Distance was 33.3 feet, with a target height of 54". Mark was originally judged in the wrong category; the group which had air canisters. Marks pistol is a pump, which is heavier and placed 5th in that the wrong category. After retuning home with his 5th place award he received notification that the error was caught and he would receive the 2nd place trophy. Mark did well to beat out the competition in both categories. Congratulations Mark! Mark's next competition will be at Camp Perry, Ohio in August. He will be shooting a Springfield 03, M1 Carbine. Good Luck Mark and your entire team. For the Good of the Club Dave informed us that three new picnic tables were assembled with wood donated by Garner Brothers, and that other picnic tables were pressure cleaned and repaired. Many thanks to all of the club members that volunteered their time - these nice tables were appreciated at the Seafood Bake and will be appreciated at the Chicken BBQ. Seafood Bake Over 100 tickets were sold for the Seafood Bake, which was held on Saturday, August 4th. With more than 20 club members volunteering their time, everyone enjoyed the 4 hour feast of mussels in wine sauce, steamers, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn, chowder, fritters, chicken, and lobster! Little necks were on the menu again along with a new delicacy of Oysters. Other events during the day included trap shooting, horseshoes (congrats to Tom), and the entertaining tunes/commentary and karaoke by John. Many thanks to Rick, the Westerly crew for coming up each year, and to all of the volunteers for putting on this wonderful event.
