Cookbooks:

The process has begun for putting together our own cookbook. We have started receiving recipes, but we need more in order to have a decent compilation. We know a lot of you cook and have some great recipes; please share these with us. We have targeted Sept. 24th as the cut off date, but are willing to extend that by a week if necessary. We are hoping to have the book ready for distribution by Thanksgiving. They would also make some nice stocking stuffers!!

Recipes for regular types of food are also being accepted along with appetizers and desserts. We are also looking for kids recipes. So let's hear from all you ice fishing and hunting camp cooks.

Calendars:

We are also looking into making a 'Woodville' calendar. This calendar will have all our events listed along with meeting dates and times. Any photo donations for the calendar would be greatly appreciated. We will be sure to get the photo back to you.

Seafood Bake

We had another very successful Seafood Bake with over 160 participants! With Rick M.'s crew in the kitchen, everyone feasted on Striper and Blue fish cooked to golden brown, clam fritters in a variety of shapes and sizes, muscles, steamed in a garlic and wine sauce, coleslaw bubbling-hot clam chowder, steamers, and steamed lobster served with butter. The grill crew provided burgers and hot dogs all day, and Lee was shucking littlenecks to the music (and commentary) of John Villa. Frank W's fire-pit crew provided a wood-smoked chicken that had the meat falling off the bone. Thanks to everyone for pitching in and helping make this become a great annual event!

Coincidences

  • For two club meetings in a row, our vice-president Mike (Bear) won the 50/50 pool!
  • On the day of the Seafood Bake, Gary (Bones) acquired four beer birds at trap!
  • Rick M., who is our lead cook for the Seafood Bake, won the extra-extra large lobster!
  • At one point on August 22nd at trap, four out of five trap shooters were left-handed!

Mural

At the 2nd club meeting this month, Dave Welch exhibited some of his repairs to the mural. When asked if he would like to comment on his work, he humbly replied "I'll let the mural speak for itself." Stop by and check out his improvements!

Lj's Sporting Tip

Some arrows that are lodged in 3-D targets can be difficult to remove, especially with the speed and power provided by compound bows. To make it easier to remove the arrows, try applying a silicon lubricant or wax to your practice arrows before shooting them. They usually remove with half the effort!

Human Interest:

Congratulations to Jackie and Melissa Pratt with the birth of Mary Jane ("Janie") Pratt. That makes Earle Pratt a Great Grandfather!!

Mary Jane (

Our condolences to Rusty Hewins family with the loss of his mother in law.

Get well soon to Dennis Smith. He had an unfortunate accident the night before the Seafood Bake and is just now getting out of the house.

General Information

Next Month: Chicken Barbeque on Sept 12th!
