  • It’s that time of year again and the Dues are due. Anyone who pays their dues by the first meeting in December (12/2/03) will be eligible for the raffle held at our Adult Christmas Party. The winner of the raffle will not have to pay their dues the following year.

  • If anyone knows of a member who is sick or hospitalized, please let us know. You can leave a message at 508-435-4148.

  • Guest Speaker at General Meetings

This month, with about 50 members in attendance, Jerry from Jerry's Bait Shop of Milford gave a wonderful talk about common paperwork errors when checking harvested deer, deer population growth trends, several humorous hunting stories, and described the benefits of the new carbon scent-blocker suits for bow hunting. Jerry is an excellent speaker, being the former vice-president of Mass Bow Association and a founding member of the Happy Hookers Bass Club and kept us all on the edge of our seats and provided us with a few good chuckles too. Thank you very much Jerry!

  • Dave L's Retirement Party

On Nov. 1, we surprised Dave with the Woodville version of a retirement party. Dave, thinking he was coming to an adult Halloween Party, was pleasantly surprised to find out that the party was actually for him. Several Woodville members attended the memorable event, quite a few in Halloween costumes. And for those that didn't have costumes, we had a special mask made for them to wear. We presented Dave with a token of our appreciation from donations collected in the "special" bucket. Thank you to all that helped make this a memorable event. Our best wishes to Dave for a long, happy, healthy retirement!! The best costume prize went to Ricky, the soft-spoken hoe dealer in the purple suit! Congratulations to raffle winners Mike Collins who won the 20# lobster, Steve Galuzzo who won the 7.5 # lobster, Rusty Hewins and George Robinson who won the smaller lobsters.

  • Children's Halloween Party

We held our annual party on Halloween evening. We had the usual bobbing for apples, which we think Dennis enjoys, way too much, the donut eating contest, the pitching the penny in the pumpkin contest, and this year we added, guess the monster parts, and ghost stories around the camp fire. The kids even got to make s'mores if they listened to the stories!! Thank you to all the volunteers for your help and participation making this a fun time for all the ghosts and goblins!

  • Straight Shooting

All of us have been enjoying the harvesting of pheasant on the club grounds and at Pratt's farm. Many thanks to Mike Collins and Kevin Long for picking up the birds. And to all that helped in stocking them.

  • It must be in the Genes

We had several members join our club this month, and our president recognized that Chris Crosby and Greg Pratt are both 3rd generation members. You both have a lot of history to be proud of!

  • Condolences

We were sad to hear that one of our lifetime members, Cliff Crosby, passed away last month. Cliff did a lot for our club over the years and he will truly be missed. We extend our deepest condolences to all of Cliff's family and friends.

  • Sporting tips - November:

To silence your arrow, try applying some moleskin to the arrow rest on your bow. This won't work for all bows because of the many different arrow rests in use today. You can try placing moleskin onto the areas adjacent to the arrow rest which will help quite any noise if the arrow falls off the rest.

  • To all the hunters, fishing men and women out there. Care to share any hunting or fishing stories? We’d be happy to listen and publish your story in the Message and put it on the web page. Come to the member meetings and share your stories!!

  • Don’t forget Trap shooting on Sunday afternoons. We start around 1:30. Come on down and join in the fun.

  • Ongoing, we can order jackets, either spring or winter. If you are interested in looking at these items please keep in contact with the club (508-435-4148). We are taking orders for dungaree shirts; we have samples on display. Stop by the club and check them out. The green hats are in now. Member’s price for a hat is still $5.00. If anyone is interested in the green short sleeve shirts, we can get them for $17.00. Please let us know if you are interested.

  • Hall Rentals:
    • Member $75.00 plus $75.00 deposit
    • Non-Member $175.00 Hall, $50.00 bartender, plus $75.00 deposit

A deposit and contract are required to hold a date. Deposits are refunded at the end of the function once the hall has been cleaned.
