Price is still $20 each, and we will be selling only 105 tickets. Courtesy Cards Now on Woodville Website Woodville Rod & Gun is now offering a simple "Courtesy Card" on our website for obtaining permission to hunt on privately owned land. See link on WRG homepage: "Permission to Hunt form" Some towns in Massachusetts require written landowner permission to hunt legally. Be sure to check if there is a specific form required for your town, if not then this card is a great way get written permission to hunt and make the landowner feel comfortable by pledging to uphold the Sportsman's Code of Ethics (as stated on the NRAhq.org website). It's important for sportsmen to foster strong relationships with private landowners by treating them with courtesy and respect. These cards ensure the landowner knows who you are and how to reach you if any problems arise. Hunting on private land is a privilege. Remember, individual good behavior will benefit all sportsmen. TIP: Woodville's courtesy cards are 4" x 6", the same as a standard photo. If you have courtesy cards for many different landowners you can organize your permission slips in a small 4" x 6" photo album for easy access. Comedy Night Our second comedy night for this year was held on Saturday 11/7/09 and was another sold out show. The meal was delicious, serving a heaping portion of Roast Beef, mashed potatoes and vegetables, Soup and salad. Everyone ate well, and the comedians were fantastic. Thank you to everyone who helped in making another successful event. Check out the calendar of events for 2010 for the next comedy night. (The calendar of events will be distributed in December along with raffle tickets to the Ice Derby). Kid's Halloween Party This year the weather was perfect for the ghosts and goblins to go trick or treating. This may be the reason that attendance at the annual Kid's party was smaller than usual. With Halloween sounds in the background, we had fun watching the kids enjoying themselves bouncing "eyeballs" into buckets, pitching pennies into the pumpkin, bowling, bean bag tossing and participating in a few other games provided for their entertainment. And we can't forget the donuts on the string, which is a very popular event. This year we also added a cake raffle. A few happy goblins went home with a cake to enjoy. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped decorate the club; set up the games, baked, monitored games and helped break everything down. Pheasant Hunting The Club did the annual stalking of the pheasants for three consecutive weekends in October. Several members turned out to hunt the birds. Thank you to the Harlow family for picking up the birds and stocking each weekend. Here is one account of a hunter's success: Greg Pratt and Joe Kerins were hunting pheasants on the morning of October 31st when Greg's dog flushed a hen. Greg got his gun up quickly and swung on the bird. He pulled the trigger in an opening with a few branches between trees and hit his mark. The hen went down followed by a SECOND BIRD. Greg and Joe figure the second hen must have been sitting in the branches of the tree he shot through. That's how you kill two birds with one stone (or shotgun shell). Congratulations, Greg! If anyone else has a story to share, please send it to us so we can share with others. Website needs photos! Folks, we need updated photos for the website.
