Meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday, Monthly at 8:00pm Calendar of Events
Thanksgiving Day Meal Dennis Smith and his volunteers, in the spirit of promoting good will to the community, opened the Woodville Rod and Gun club for the 6th year in a row and served free turkey dinners to senior citizens, our Fire Dept, and to anyone that doesn't have a place to go on Thanksgiving Day. Dennis claims that this was one of the smoothest dinners that he has ever put on - and owes it to the preparation that his 8 volunteers did the night before, and to the 20 volunteers that showed up on Thanksgiving Day. On Thanksgiving Day, the crew re-heated the six turkeys, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and the squash, and then served it with cranberry sauce and 14 pies. A few new members also tried out the new industrial potato masher with very good results. Denny's crew started serving at 11:00 a.m. and finished serving at 3:00 p.m. Valet parking was even provided! A tip of the hat to Ville Dragsbeak, for donating three turkeys, and to the Fire Department for donating a turkey. There were senior citizen scooters, wheelchairs, and 4 generations seated together enjoying a turkey meal in our hall. Everyone that attended the meal provided excellent exit comments to Denny. Club Elections The new officers for 2006 are: Dennis Smith, President; Mike Collins, V. President; Gene Walsh, Secretary; Karen Remillard, Treasurer. Filling a vacancy on the Trustees will be Gary Hassett. New Membership committee member, Dennis Stratton and Tom Pratt, re-elected. Dues are due Please remember to have your dues in or postmarked by 12/31/05, otherwise dues will be $70.00 and can be paid until 1/31/06. If by chance you are having a hardship. Please contact the membership committee to see what can be worked out. Reminder: If you are a new member, you will need to bring in your membership card, signed with the three details that you have performed in order to renew your membership. There are still functions coming up in which you would be able to fulfill your requirement. Speak to your sponsor or any officer or trustee of the club if you have any questions. Christmas Holiday Party This year our Christmas party featured Marinated Steak Tips, Cranberry Stuffed Chicken Breast, garlic mashed potatoes, butternut squash, Caesar salad, rolls and butter. The food was awesome. Thank you to anyone that had donated an appetizer or dessert. And thank you to everyone who helped to decorate the club. It looks awesome. Congratulations to Bruce Pratt for winning the free dues for 2007. The Children's party was held the next day with 65 children signed up. The children had a blast making decorations while waiting for Santa to arrive. Santa was pleasantly surprised to enter the club hearing all the children singing Jingle Bells. We'd like to thank all the elves who helped set up the party and a huge thank you to Becky Canty for doing all the shopping and wrapping for Santa. And thanks to Santa. Shoots have started This is a fun filled afternoon for the whole family. Please contact the club for details or if you would like to know when the next shoot will be scheduled. This is a club function, so anyone who needs to full fill their membership obligations please consider coming down to help. Lj's tip for December: What do you give to the sportsman that has everything? Try giving next year's fishing/hunting license with the associated archery, black-powder, and waterfowl stamps. Update to the Chicken BBQ We mistakenly left off a name for the Kids 22 Shoot. Congratulations to Michelle Empey for coming in second place. General Information: If you have turned 65 and have 5 years of membership you are entitled to a life membership. Please contact the club if this applies to you. Friendly reminder - We are always looking for help at the club events and functions. If you need to complete your 3 new member details, this is a way to do that. You see the club events published in this article. Mark them on your calendars as a reminder, check with your sponsor to see if anything is coming up or stop by the club and see what's happening. An extra pair of hands always makes the chore easier, and more fun! Remember...

New pictures have been added to our website, check them out at: www.woodvillerodandgun.com and click on the "Gallery". If you would like to post anything to the website please send it to webmaster@woodvillerodandgun.com. If you have any questions, contact one of the members on the website committee Dennis Wadsworth "Webmaster", Lee Wright, Karen Remillard, Jeff Gemski and Cherryl Barrett (chairperson). In October we have the stocking of the birds for pheasant hunting. Good luck to all that participate and hopefully we may get a story or two to share with others. Folks are already talking about sightings of deer and wild turkeys in the area. Thank you to all the folks that have been lending a hand in making some much needed repairs around the club. In some cases they may seem like no big deal, but some minor adjustments make a world of difference to those of us that face them each time we are there. Thank you again for your time and energy. (I for one, having griped about certain things for the past couple of years, greatly appreciate it)!!
