Sick Call: (please contact the club if you know of anyone who is ill)

We are sending our deepest condolences to both the Lynch and Lukey Family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lane Marks and his family.

Toy For Tots

The club is a drop off location for the Toys for Tots program. We will continue this again next year. Unfortunately we did not have much time to notify the membership about this. So next year, we'll send out reminders in advance.

Hopkinton Food Bank:

The Hopkinton food bank needs help. Their shelves are extremely low right now. There are two bins in the clubhouse for donations. Please check any expiration dates before donating. There is a list at the club of suggested items.

Adult & Kids Christmas Party:

The adult Christmas party was held on Saturday December 8, with appetizers and cocktails to start then a fabulous meal of Prime Rib and Herbed Chicken, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Awesome Butternut Squash and Green Beans. The food was spectacular, unfortunately the DJ was not. Apologies to everyone who did not enjoy the country & western DJ. We'll do better next year. The free membership raffle for 2009, pulled during the party, was won by Bob Fair, and the door prize was won by Lee Wright. The prize was a basket full of wonderful snacks, bottles of wine, and pretty Christmas towels and ornaments. Lee was thrilled.

The kids Christmas party was held on Sunday December 9, with 40 children in attendance. They enjoyed making Christmas Ornaments and eating pizza while waiting for Santa's arrival. Santa's arrival brought smiles to everyone, young and old.

Thanksgiving Dinner:

We had our 8th Thanksgiving Day Dinner this year. The meal consisted of traditional Turkeys and deep fried Turkeys, potatoes, squash, stuffing, carrots, gravy and hot turkey soup. We served about 85 sit down meals, 46 take-outs and there were 20-25 helpers during the day. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this a successful dinner.

Note from former club President Dennis Smith:

A Thank You to Frenchi and his Pilgrims
By Past President Dennis Smith

On November 22nd our club put on its 8th Thanksgiving Day Dinner. As usual the meal consisting of Turkey, potatoes, squash, stuffing, carrots and gravy was outstanding. The meal started with a fabulous hot turkey soup. Our guests were greeted and seated by members of the club along with representatives from the Senior Center. Many members and non-members were waitresses and waiters who took orders and served our guests. Several members worked the food service line. I'm not sure of all the members who worked as some were new members to me, but I do know several of them that have participated for the full 8 years now.

I understand that we served 85 sit down meals and I was one of the attendees this year. As some of you know I have been either in the Hospital or in Rehab for over 4 months now. And at this time I'd like to thank the members for all their efforts. Thank you to Karen Remillard and George Robinson for pushing and threatening me to get myself down to the club and for George Robinson hauling my butt up there in the senior van. I'd like to thank the Hopkinton Senior Center for allowing George use of their van to bring me to the club and return me to Rehab. At this time I'm in a wheelchair and being able to use the van was a real blessing.

Our President, Mike Collins pushed me into the hall and made a speech. I was given a round of applause and many thank you's for our club putting on this meal. I accepted all the gratitude shown by our guest, in the name of the club and our membership.

Lastly, I'd like to thank all the people that supplied homemade deserts. They were the best sugar free treats I've had all year. I'm in hopes of being home soon and hopefully will be able to make it to the club again in the near future. Until then, I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy Holiday season.

Dennis

Last call for Dues

We will announce the winner in our next edition. Dues are due by 12/31/2007. Dues will be increased by $10.00 ($90.00) until 1/31/2008.

If you have a hardship paying your dues this year, please contact someone from the membership committee. We'd rather work it out with you than loose a valuable member.
