Meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday, Monthly at 8:00pm Calendar of Events Our events for 2008 have come to an end, but watch for upcoming events in 2009. We have an ice fishing derby on Jan. 24th, and Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 1st coming along. Sign up sheets for the fishing derby are printed and can be found on the website or in the club house. Pass the word. Sick Call Get well wishes go out to Pam Main. We hope you are feeling better and on the road to recovery. Update on Dennis Smith; he is now at Whittier in Westborough and is progressing slowly, but is progressing. That is good news. He would love some company, so if you are in the area, please stop in. Deaths: Former member John Hinckley died Saturday following heart surgery. John was also a former selectman in Hopkinton for many years prior to moving to Orleans on the Cape where he was also elected selectman. Cathy Tomasetti's mother passed away, our deepest condolences to Cathy, Russell and Brad Tomasetti and Karl Dakai Thanksgiving Dinner It amazes me each year when the holidays come around of how much generosity and goodness comes with this Holiday. We hosted our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, with a full house. Its always such a pleasure to chat with the seniors and reminisce with them of Turkey Day's gone by. As usual we had our traditional Turkeys and we were able to serve deep fried turkeys again this year, thanks to Lee Wright. The response of help this year was again heart warming. Many donations were received this year, starting with George Payson who donated the first Turkey. Thank you to Betty Pratt for obtaining donations from Roche Bros and the pies donated by the chef's at Staples. Thank you to Earle Pratt's friend Tom Desmond for a hefty cash donation. Thank you to everyone who peeled, diced (no fingers this year), cooked, washed pans, served and cleaned up. We also had non-members donate pies and deserts, and one man came in to offer help, just to be a part of the event! Thank you to all who made this dinner a huge success. Special thanks to Marcel and Karen Remillard and Edie Vincuilla for heading up the kitchen details and organizing the event. Adult & Children's Christmas Party The adult Christmas party was held on Saturday December 6, with appetizers and cocktails to start followed by a fabulous meal of Prime Rib and Herbed Chicken, Baked Potatoes, Awesome Butternut Squash and Green Beans. A Caesar Salad and rolls and butter rounded out the meal. The food was spectacular. Our DJ, Michelle Gates was super and encouraged special requests throughout the night. We dined by soft dinner music then after dinner, the tunes were turned up and the feet started dancing. There was hardly a time that the dance floor wasn't full. The free membership raffle for 2010, pulled during the party, was won by Alan Ayotte, and the door prize was won by Frank Cornine III. Congratulations to both members. We also celebrated member Robert "Tommy" Stevens birthday, he turns 50 on Wednesday, and cake was shared by all. The Children's Christmas party was held on Sunday December 7, with 42 children in attendance. They enjoyed making Christmas ornaments, eating pizza and making Ice Cream Sundaes, while waiting for Santa's arrival. This year the 4H club donated ornaments and assisted the older children in making them. Thank you. Santa arrived right around 1:00pm with one of his elves who assisted him with handing out the presents and candy canes. It is such a joy to see the smiles on the children's faces when they open their gifts. Thank you to all who made both of these events awesome. The entire clubhouse is beautifully decorated and we'd like to thank everyone who came down and donated their time to decorate. Thank you to everyone and you all know who you are, for your help this year in making all of our events successful. Dues are due It's that time of year again. Please remember that the dues are $80.00. Dues are due by 12/31/2008. After that, dues will be increased by $10.00 ($90.00) until 1/31/2009. *If you have a hardship paying your dues this year, please contact someone from the membership committee early on. We'd rather work it out with you than loose a valuable member. Notices of upcoming events being sent via emails
