Get Well Soon:

Sending get well wishes to Jim Nugent. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Welcome New Members:

Michael Brusser, Brent England, Frank Rafferty, Eddy Provost, Robin Natanel, Daniel Freedman & Rob Ross

Thanks Mike…:

We would like to thank our outgoing President, Mike Collins, for his leadership and dedication during the last four years.

Mike served as Vice President with then President Dennis Smith during 2004-2006, and served as President for the last four years through this December. During part of this time Mike was also Bar Manager. “It was an experience learning to run the meetings”, he recently said. But we all know that he did a great job with the challenges of running the meetings in an orderly fashion. In addition, Mike attended the Trustee’s meetings because he felt “that it was part of my responsibilities.”

During Mike’s tenure, improvements to the Club included new carpeting, new flooring to replace the deteriorated existing tiles, refurbishment of the men’s restroom, and repairs to the bar flooring. During his time in office the membership has continued to grow.

Mike would like to see the new members “step up” and be involved with the committees and operations of the Club. He is wishing the best for our incoming President, Lee Wright, and will continue to be an active member.

Thanks, Mike, for a job well done…

Supporting the Club:

I would like to thank the members that answered my plea for help skinning and cleaning the 150 pheasants we received for the 2011 game feed. Such support is required in any organization, and it is greatly appreciated. If you need to get work details done for membership requirements please feel free to contact me, any Trustee, officer or the membership committee. There are many things that have to be done throughout the year, I'm sure we can find something for you to do! The next big events coming up are the Ice Fishing Derbies, general and the youth event in January, the game feed in February. We will need volunteers to help with the breakfast the morning of the adult derby, setting up the judges station (and breaking down), then cleaning the hall after the event. We also need help with the kids at the youth ice fishing event, cooking hot dogs, helping the kids catch fish, drilling holes for the kids to fish though, etc... The game feed requires a lot of prep the week leading up to the event, such as slicing and dicing veggies, cutting meat, washing pots and pans (where I started many, many years ago), setting up the hall, etc... The list goes on. This is one of our bigger events and I look forward to seeing a few new faces pitching in. We have many members that we can always count on to "get'er done", but burnout is a great concern. I don't want to lose the knowledgeable help we currently have. Hence my plea now. With your help we can make this great club even better!

Lee J. Wright President 2011

Thanksgiving Dinner 2010

Thanksgiving this year was awesome, we had a fantastic turn out to do the prep work the night prior and an equal amount of help showed on Thanksgiving Day. Two thumbs up to Marcel and Karen Remillard for organizing it all, and thanks to all the support we received from the members. Including the help we estimate there were 144 meals served this year. As in the past we had someone who came in and grabbed a dozen meals for people who couldn't leave their homes, Skip and Melissa Lukey also delivered 9 meals to the fire fighters and the police who were on duty Thanksgiving Day. George Robinson again drove the little bus with guys and gals from the Senior Center to enjoy a meal and then delivered several meals within Hopkinton. What was really great, were the new faces that showed up to help. Working these events helps you meet fellow members and build camaraderie within the organization.

Thank you all for the support,

Lee Wright

Thank you Lee, I too would also like to say THANK YOU to everyone who made this day so rewarding and such a heartwarming day. Every year I am amazed at everyone who is so willing to contribute anyway they can. We could not have done this without everyone’s continued support. With the numerous Turkey donations, cash donations from members, nonmembers and even some attendees who enjoyed the meal. We know the season begins when George Payson comes up after a meeting to be the first to donate for this event, and when Betty Pratt starts knocking on doors for gift certificates from Roche Bros, Stop & Shop, and arranges the delicious pies from Chef Louie at Staples Corporation. We must not forget everyone who helped decorate the hall, the 4H kids for making centerpieces each year, the seniors for donating the beautiful flower arrangements made by the local Daisy Troop, the prep crew, servers, kitchen crew and the cleanup crew. There were well over 50 people who assisted this year between club members and neighbors. This year there was a special treat for all the help. Ed Grant donated a 38 lb Turkey and cooked it just for us. It was delicious. Thanks Ed!! And to everyone else, we are forever grateful.

I would like to wish you all a Happy Holiday season and I hope the New Year coming brings you all good health, wealth, much happiness and great success. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything throughout the year.

Karen

A hearty Thank You!!

Thanks to Pat Cervolo who donated an electric smoker for a raffle prize. We will raffle this off at the game feed. And thank you for all the peelers donated to the kitchen.
